When preparing to fight, we must prepare for the worst possible situation, not the best. While the best scenario for the defensive use of a handgun is to place both hands firmly on the firearm while shooting, circumstances may prevent that. Growing up with a father who loved baseball, I became familiar with the term “switch hitter”.

In baseball a switch hitter is a player who can comfortably and on demand bat from either the left or the right side of home plate. To be a Tactical Switch Hitter means the ability to hit the target on demand, using both hands, the strong hand only or the support hand only. Most shooters will not practice with their strong hand only or their support hand because it feels uncomfortable or their shot groups are not tight and cool looking.

There have been numerous situations in the real world where defenders had to shoot with only their strong hand or their support hand. To be a Tactical Switch Hitter takes time and effort but it can be done.
