Everyone knows that the 3D Era of Mortal Kombat did not have the best lineup of characters. However, were all of them really that bad? The answer is No. In fact the 3D Era had some pretty good kombatants! So I took a list of the kombatants that debuted in 4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon, and ranked them from absolute best to worst.

Also, I made a couple of exceptions in the classification of “3D Era”. For example, Quan Chi debuted in the MK: Defenders of the Realm cartoon, then appeared in Sub Zero: Mythologies, but I included him as his playable debut was 4. Also Chameleon was technically in MK: Trilogy, but they’re completely different and new in Armageddon, so they’re in.

And on today’s Kombat Alert: We talk about Cole Young’s potential role in MK: The Movie 2. Should his Hero Story be trashed and cut, or should they stuck to their guns and continue to make Mr. Young the main character of the Mortal Kombat Cinematic Universe? Learn my opinion!

On July 2nd, 2021, Netherrealm Studios announced that they were ending support of MK11 in favor of focusing on “their next project”. At the time, pretty much everyone assumed “Okay it’s Injustice 3 time, we’ll hear an announcement or tease in 6 months or so.

Here we are, almost one full year later, and we still have no idea what NRS is working on. Rumors have flown around, it started as Injustice 3, then some said it was a Marvel game, claims of it being MK vs. DCU 2 came out, but the current most popular assumption is that their next project is Mortal Kombat 12.

HOWEVER, nothing has been confirmed! The next installment of the Injustice series could still be on the horizon, and that’s where I come in. I have made an outline containing exactly what I would do if I was the creative director and primary decision maker of the Injustice 3 project. Let’s see what you think about my ideas.

One of Mortal Kombat’s greatest strengths has always been its variety. From normal humans, to ninjas, to magic, to technology, to monsters. Monsters like the Shokan, the Tarkatans, and the latest addition, the Naknada.

What the hell is NRS up to? That is the question floating around the Mortal Kombat Kommunity ever since they publicly announced that support for Mortal Kombat 11 has ended, and it has been revving up even harder with the recent Street Fighter 6 news.

There have been rumors, speculation, leaks, but nothing from the actual company, other than Mr. Ed Boon making the promise that “There’s a reason it’s taking this long.”

The most prevailing assumption is that it’s MK12, so I come to you today to share my thoughts on what I think the eventual Mortal Kombat 12 could be, should be, and should NOT be.
